Muay Thai Style
Muay Thai Style
Muay Thai is a style of kickboxing and the national sport of Thailand. The basic offensive techniques in Muay Thai use hands, elbows, kicks and knees to disable the opponent. To hinder an opponent for both offensive and defensive purposes, small amounts of stand-up grappling are used: the clinch. Defensively, the shoulders, arms and legs are used to thwart the attacker from successfully executing his techniques. Almost all techniques in Muay Thai use the entire body movement, rotating the hip with each kick, punch and block.
Our Program
Our Program
The OAMA Thai program is broken down into distinct classes to provide the best training possible from the novice to the pro-fighter. Our Basic Muay Thai program includes the Conditioning class and the Technique class. The conditioning class focuses on training methods to develop a well conditioned body. This may include skipping, push-ups, crunches and pad work as well as other conditioning exercises. The pad work is the biggest focus of the conditioning class - you will not only get a great work out from smashing the pads, you will also be improving your technique at the same time. The technique class will focus primarily on the foundations of the art of Muay Thai and prepare the student for the Advanced program. In the technique class setting you will be working on all of the basic strikes and defenses. The Advanced program is the next level of training focusing more on specific drills that put your new found tools into practice.
